A beautiful new-build cottage in a recent client project provides fresh new inspiration for the team. Each room was carefully considered to ensure it felt both individual and interconnected. From the sun-drenched living spaces to the private retreats of the bedrooms and bathroom, the attention to detail is echoed throughout this house.

A Thoughtful Touch in
Every Room

While each room in the cottage has its own personality, the overall look and feel remains harmonious. This was a conscious design decision, our client had pre-selected fabric choices and with the help of our head designer Sarah Wooldridge, created amazing design solutions for the window treatments. By maintaining a consistent design language, soft textures, carefully selected patterns, and elegant craftsmanship, we were able to give every space its own character without losing the sense of cohesion throughout the home.

There’s a familiar rhythm as you move from room to room, created through complementary colour palettes, fabric textures, and the refined tailoring of each window treatment. This created a house where everything felt intentional and thought through from one room to the next.

Privacy Without
Sacrificing Light

One of the standout elements of this project was the window treatment in the bathroom. The cafe curtains, using Colefax and Fowler’s Nancy in Ivory, offered privacy without blocking out the beautiful natural light or the sky view, creating an elegant, minimal, and highly functional window dressing. Although more commonly associated with kitchens, a cafe curtain shields the room from view while still allowing daylight to pour in from above, preserving the open and airy feeling that is often lost with traditional bathroom curtains.

Double-Sided Curtains for a Glass-Paneled Wall

In one of the bedrooms, we designed and installed a double-sided curtain to dress a striking, window paneled, bedroom wall. To achieve a cohesive feel from both inside and out, we used Soane’s Lawknawi Flower in Straw on the bedroom side, a warm, botanical print that brings softness and warmth to the space and Chelsea Textiles’ Tiny Stripe in Faded Yellow on the reverse, which faces the outside of the room through the windows. This combination allowed the curtains to be beautiful from every angle, while also complementing the room’s colour palette. Spanning the whole length of the wall, this curtain provided the privacy needed while allowing the unique design of the cottage to shine through.

This Henley project is a perfect example of how thoughtful design, collaboration, and craftsmanship allows for a well-rounded finished result. The window dressings don’t just serve a function, they elevate the entire space, bringing softness, warmth, and personality to every room.
