The beginning of the year always has that sense of new beginnings and a fresh start. Post the craziness of the festive season, around this time we see many of our clients start to review their home décor, in readiness for the warmer, brighter days of spring and summer.  In our blog this month we wanted to explore some of the exciting new spring fabric design collections that are coming out onto the market.

Before we delve in what trends we are seeing with some of our favourite fabric houses for 2025, it is worth mentioning that the Pantone colour of 2025 has also now been released. The Pantone colour for 2025 is “Mocha Mousse”. Building on some of the warm, earthy tones that we saw in the autum/ winter collections, Mocha Mousse is a warm rich brown hue which will no doubt trickle into the fabric designs for the year ahead. The Pantone colour of the year is selected to express a global mood and attitude and the Pantone Color Institute’s Executive Director, Leatrice Eiseman said:

Underpinned by our desire for every day pleasures, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse expresses a level of thoughtful indulgence. Sophisticated and lush, yet at the same time an unpretentious classic, PANTONE 17-1230 Mocha Mousse extends our perceptions of the browns from being humble and grounded to embrace aspirational and luxe.”

Spring Fabric Design Trends

There are some exciting spring fabric design trends that are coming through as many of the key fabric houses launch their spring/ summer collections. We continue to see a varied range of fabric choices available for your window dressings, to suit all kinds of styles and budgets. We spoke with our Head Designer, Sarah who shared more about the kind of trends she is seeing this season:

1. Natural fabrics and materials

As consumers become more environmentally aware, we are seeing many fabric houses focusing on natural fabrics or developing a very strong focus on sustainablity. So whether that is recycalable cotton, wool, linen or Polyester from recycled bottles, if you are keen to be more environmentally aware there is lots of choice out there to suit all budgets. With this in mind, we are seeing  that natural fabrics such as linens and cottons rising in polularity.

2. Inspired by nature

Reflecting the overarching increased consumer awareness of the environment, The Romo Group are also sharing some lovely green fabric designs. These designs reflect the soothing qualities of nature, whilst at the same time bring a sense of richness with deep forrest hues. Their Toulin fabric range offers a range of greens that compliment these bright fabric designs from fresh, zesty tones to deep rich green hues.

3. Inspired by the 1970s

Towards the end of 2024 we saw a resurgence of fabric designs inspired by the bold and vibrant trends of the 1970s and this trend is set to continue as we head into 2025. Infulenced by the new Pantone colour of the year we are seeing these fabrics build with more earthy, brown tones.

4. Storybook Collections

A number of different fabric houses also seem to be launching some beautiful storybook fabrics, perfect if you are redecorating a child’s bedroom or nursery. These Villa Nova fabrics are designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and a love of storytelling and adventure.

5. Small Prints

We are also seeing a continuning trend in using small print fabrics, these new ones from Linwood Fabrics are proving to be really popular. We are currently using this bright Helter Skelter Volcano fabric on one of our client’s living room projects.

Following on with the 1970’s theme we are also seeing lots of new designs be release using lots of bright, often contrasting colours. We are currently creating some bespoke curtains for a client, using this beautiful Charlotte Gaisford fabric, below on the right. This Ian Sanderson fabric was also a popular choice at Decorex in December 2024.
